Excessive memory use by Copernic Plugins Service

I've always used the "smart" indexing performance option with no problems: indexing is continuous and I saw no effect on performance in other programs.

Yesterday I upgraded to v 8.3.4, and now this same option causes Copernic Plugins Service to use over 95% of my system memory, which obviously affects on other programs running. The problem doesn't manifest itself in the "restricted" option, but then indexing is paused for 99% of the time, i.e. when you're using your computer.

1. Is this a known problem?

2. Is it indeed related to the upgrade to 8.3.4?

3. Is there a solution other than using the "restricted" option?

Good morning,

I had the same issue, with copernic.pluginsservice using a huge amount of RAM (around 8 GB).

My system: Windows 11 Professional, Intel i7 processor, 32 GB RAM

Copernic is set to index 10 parent folders containing PDF, Word, Excel, EML, MSG, and TXT files, for a total of: 50 GB of data, 80,000 files, 10,000 subfolders, 2,000 Outlook contacts

After several attempts, I found a configuration that works well in my case:

Initial scan: Unlimited mode, Duration: approximately 2 full days (Saturday and Sunday)

Subsequent scans: Limited mode, Refresh interval: every 6 hours

I also disabled OCR and all file extensions that I do not need.

A refresh every 6 working hours is more than sufficient for my needs (this guarantees at least one update per day). During the indexing process, which takes about 10 minutes, pluginsservice uses only about 500-600 MB of RAM.

The user does not even notice that indexing is running, as it usually takes place during a phone call or a break.

I hope this information helps other users experiencing the same issue and that it proves to be an effective solution for them as well

Correction: the problem now also arises with the option "restricted"", to the extent that my PC is no longer usable when resource use goes to 98%.. I still think it's related to the latest update. Is there a way to go back to a previous version?
