I see Tony from Technical Support responded privately via our ticketing system. I have included his answer below for the benefit of anyone else with this question:

1) I am indexing drive G of my pc , and once the intial indexing is done , can I delete contents in drive G to save storage , If I do ,will I be able to get the files?"
No, if you delete the drive contents, there's nothing to index so this is not how Copernic works. You need to leave the drive as is so you can actually search and find the files where they are located on your hard drive.

2) Indexing is taking too much time , what is the solution for this?"
Try using "Unrestricted" mode in Tools > Indexing Performance which may help. There is no way of knowing how long it will take to index everything. It all depends on the processing power of your computer and the type of files set to be indexed: video for example only has the name and metadata indexed while pdf documents can take longer since the content is indexed too.

You will know that the index is built when CDS stops indexing by itself. After the initial index, it won't take as long because Copernic will only index new or modified files.
