Transferring licenses to new laptop

I see from similar posts that uninstalling CDS from my old laptop "releases the licenses"

How does Copernic know I've uninstalled?

Should I Export my licenses before uninstalling, for import to my new laptop?

Clarity would be appreciated

Thx  Neil

I see Tony from Technical Support responded privately via our ticketing system. I have included his response below should anyone else need the information:

"How does Copernic know I've uninstalled?"
If everything works as intended, it contacts the Copernic license server during uninstallation and releases the license for you.

"Should I Export my licenses before uninstalling, for import to my new laptop?"
Yes, save your license file because you will need it again on the new installation.

Here's the download link for CDS 8.3.2 (if needed) : https://go.copernic.com/?dest=cds8installer

Your license file needs to be imported into Copernic so please use the license file you already own. To do this, please open Copernic Desktop Search, go to Extensions / Licenses in the menu. Once inside the Extensions Tab, please click on Import license file, and select your license file.

I used a trial license on my new laptop while in the process of moving across, then deregistered on the old one and applied the same license key on the new one. Quite painless.
