What are the file types indexed by Copernic Desktop Search?

Modified on Tue, 29 Apr at 1:49 PM

Copernic Desktop Search currently supports over 170 different file types for indexing and previewing.

It also supports adding file extensions to be indexed to better suit your needs.

However, adding new file types that aren't part of the software by default might result in having only their file name indexed.

To manually add new file types :

  1. Open Tools menu
  2. Options
  3. Advanced tab
  4. Click "Add" in the file type section
  5. Type your new file extension
  6. Select whether it's a document, music, pictures or video type.
  7. If you leave the "content indexing" on, CDS will try indexing the file content using the internal extractors. However, doing so might result in slower performance.
