Why are some files not indexed on the fly (in real time) on my computer ?

Modified on Tue, 24 Jan 2023 at 09:21 AM

Copernic Desktop Search offers indexing on the fly (in real time) for all categories. However, an automatic or manual update might need to take place for different reasons.

Here are a few examples where Copernic can't index on the fly and an update of your index might be needed:

    • Email messages that are received when Outlook is closed aren't indexed on the fly.
    • Outlook archives (.pst) are never indexed on the fly.
    • Files created or modified while Copernic Desktop Search is closed
    • Emails received while Copernic Desktop Search was closed are not indexed on the fly.
    • A network drive is not indexed on the fly.
    • Documents stored in the cloud are not indexed on the fly.

In those situations, all additions, modifications, and deletions will be applied to the index at the next index update (manual or scheduled).
