Clicking on a file only opens the contents of the folder, not the file

When I search for a search term and find what I am looking for, say a photograph, and double click on it, it doesn't open the photo it only shows the contents from the folder that that particular photograph was in within Copernic. Even if I found it again within that folder and click on it again, it still doesn't open the file, it only just sends me back to the same folder.

The photo or pdf show no preview of the file. I have no idea why it is doing this, it's never done this to me before.

I see Tony from Technical Support sent the following troubleshooting suggestions and clarifying questions via our messaging system but did not hear back. I have included his message below should it benefit others:

1) In the folder that it's opening, is the actual that you're trying to open found in this folder?
2) If you restart Copernic (File > Exit) and try to open the image again, does it work? Can you right click and select "Open" and does this work?

I have ended up completely uninstalling the new version and reinstalling version 6. It worked for a while but when I checked just now, all I get is a black screen. I am still using Windows 10.
