Indexing Microsoft Personal Storage Tables (Offline PST)

Modified on Wed, 08 Feb 2023 at 11:40 AM

The Personal Storage Tables (PST) category allows you to search emails, contacts and organizer content inside offline PST files. This option is useful when Microsoft Outlook® is not installed on computer or when some PST files are not mounted in Microsoft Outlook® .

NOTE: THIS OPTION IS ONLY AVAILIBLE IF THE MICROSOFT OUTLOOK EXTENSION IS ENABLED IN THE EXTENSIONS STORE.

To specify which PST elements to index:

    • In the Tools menu, click Options...
    • Select the Emails & Organizer tab.
    • Click on the Add PST file button and select an offline PST in the opened window.
    • Specify which mailbox, contact, tasks, notes or calendar folders you want to index by selecting the corresponding check box under the appropriate Microsoft Personal Storage Table (PST) mailbox.
    • Click Back to main view or Escape key to confirm and close the Options window.

To remove a PST file from index:

    • In the Tools menu, click Options...
    • Select the Emails & Organizer tab.
    • Inside the Microsoft Personal Storage Tables (PST) node, select the pst file you want to remove.
    • Click on the Remove PST filebutton.
    • Click Back to main view or Escape key to confirm and close the Options window.
NOTE: YOU CANNOT ADD A PST FILE THAT IS ALSO MOUNTED INSIDE MICROSOFT OUTLOOK® . IF THE PST FILE IS AVAILABLE IN MICROSOFT OUTLOOK® , YOU NEED TO USE THE OUTLOOK® INDEXING FEATURE INSTEAD OF THIS OPTION.
NOTE: YOU MIGHT NEED TO CLOSE OUTLOOK TO REMOVE PST FILES THAT ARE ALREADY OPEN BY OUTLOOK AND CDS.
