The Outlook icon in CDS is grayed out.
There are several reasons why Outlook could be grayed out in CDS. Here are the most common reasons:
1) The free trial does not include Outlook indexing. You must purchase a full version.
2) Outlook version currently used might not supported by CDS: See current supported versions on this page under the Microsoft Outlook / PST - Emails, Contacts and Organizer section.
3) Outlook may require an authentication (password protection) for your profile.
In that case, you need to start Outlook before starting CDS. By default, CDS loads at startup, you might want to modify this setting:
- Click the tools menu
- Click Options.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Clear the option "Starts Application when Windows starts".
4) Copernic Desktop Search can use up to 3 different plug-in to index your Outlook profile. Try a different plugin if the default one doesn't work.
- Click the tools menu > Options
- Click on the "advanced" tab
- Look for the "Select Outlook plugin" option
- By default, Copernic uses the "Native plugin". If it doesn't work, please try the "complement Outlook".
- Click on "back to main view"
- Click on File > Exit to completely exit Copernic.
- Relaunch Copernic Desktop Search
- Go back to the tools menu > Options > Emails to see if Outlook is still grayed out.
- If problem persist, retry steps 4 to 8 above but this time, using the "NetOffice plugin" in the "advanced" tab.
Contact us if Outlook remains grayed out even after you have done these verifications.
NOTE: In your contact form, please answer the following questions in order to progress further:
- What kind of email account is configured in Outlook? (MAPI, POP, exchange?)
- Do you have multiple profiles set in Outlook?
- Is your profile password protected when you open Outlook?
- Do you have PST files opened in Outlook?
